(Reporter Li Ying) On April 30, the International Jazz Day, the annual Jing'an JZ Spring Festival hosted by Cultural Affairs Bureau of Jing’an District and sponsored by JZ Music opened. The theme of this year’s festival is "Share Music and Focus on Love". The organizers selected a painting by an autistic children after listening to jazz - a brightly-colored trumpet as the official poster, hoping to lighting up "La La Land" Jing’an by Love and music.
On the opening ceremony of this year's jazz festival, Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir and the Italian "national" musician and pianist Rita Marcotulli brought wonderful jazz performances. From April 30, jazz were played in five venues including Jing‘an Park, Réel Department Store, Jing’an Kerry Center, Crystal Galleria and Shanghai Centre Theatre, and more than 20 national musicians performed on both sides of West Nanjing Road. From the park to the business district, from the square to the theater, music, dance, art surrounded the city like a jazz immersion drama. All venues are free to the public except for Shanghai Centre.
On the evening of May 1, the Umbria Jazz Festival, an Italian music festival of 3,000 years of history returned again, bringing the Giovanni Tommaso Trio and exotic experience to the public. Piano player Rita Marcotulli is the appointed musician of the Italian prime minister for many years, and the band's core figure Giovanni Tommaso created the Mediterranean melody with a 300-year-old bass. The evening of May 2 is the annual Grammy feast: two Grammy winners and one of the symbols of twentieth century jazz drums Peter Erskine led his trio and dedicated to the Chinese audience a top concert.
