Celebrating the National Day with Flying Red Flags and Paying Tributes to the Birthday of Motherland

(Reporter Xing Beilin) On the morning of October 1, the national flag raising ceremony of the Site Memorial of the Second National Congress of CPC themed “Long Live the Motherland” was held on the lawn at the east gate of the Site Memorial, to carry forward the great spirit of patriotism, welcome the 19th National Congress of CPC and celebrate the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Nearly 200 participants, including Shen Daming, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jing’an District Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jing’an District Committee, and Yu Jie, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League, carders from Jing’an District organs and representatives of residents, students and the army, attended the ceremony to present their best wishes of all sectors of the society to the Motherland.

 

Carry out revolutionary education among the young generation

 

At 8:30am, the solemn flag-raising ceremony began. Students expressed their sincere wishes to the Motherland and their aspiration of following the steps and requirements of the Party by song-and-dance “The Shining Red Star”. Flag raisers from Shanghai Headquarters of the PAP and 10 teenager escort held the bright red five-star flag and marched in measured steps towards the flag raising platform. The bright red five-star flag rose steadily in the loud singing of “March of the Volunteers” and flied above the Site Memorial of the Second National Congress of CPC, in a solemn atmosphere that ignited everyone’s passion. Citizens attending the flag raising ceremony saluted with their eyes and expressed their sincere wishes to the Motherland waving the national flags in their hands.

 

After the flag raising ceremony, Wang Hao from Shanghai International University Jing’an Foreign Language High School delivered the speech titled “The Origin of the National Anthem” under the national flag. The 12-year-old Wang Hao told the reporter that he was quite excited as it was the first time that he stood before the Site Memorial of the Second National Congress of CPC to tell the story of the national anthem and that he will cherish more today’s happy life. “The great revolutionary pioneers have created a stable and powerful country with their life. I will make contribution to our country with all my efforts when I grow up.” Yu Jie awarded certificates to Wang Hao, flag raisers and flag escort and encouraged them to study hard and shoulder the historic responsibility of national rejuvenation.

 

Tell the revolutionary story of Jing’an District

 

At the flag raising ceremony, the first, second and third prizes of “Revolutionary Jing’an & Revolutionary Atmosphere” photography contest were officially unveiled. Over 80 photographs winning award were exhibited on the “Revolutionary Jing’an & Reminiscences of the Past" photography exhibition opened that day, demonstrating the cultural charm of revolutionary Jing’an vividly.

 

The reporter learned that, in this July, Jing’an District organized the publicity activity series themed “Recalling the Revolutionary History and Pursuing Dreams in the Charming Era Today”, among which the “Revolutionary Jing’an & Revolutionary Atmosphere” photography contest attracted over 700 photography fans district-wide. These photography fans visited all 99 revolutionary sites with their cameras, recalled the years of striving and felt in person the Party’s history of endeavoring and growth with their fine shots and unique perspectives. More than 2,400 contributions are both the records of the Party’s history of undertakings and public's salute to the cause of the Party. According to the activity sponsor, with the approaching of the 19th National Congress of CPC, the “Revolutionary Jing’an & Revolutionary Atmosphere” photography contest aimed to carry forward and interpret the revolutionary culture with shots, enhance the recognition of the birthplace of the Party constantly, incorporate the gene of revolution in the development of Jing’an District and create a great spiritual power of advancing in unity.

 

That day, the book “Influential People in Jing’an District - Models in Implementing Core Socialist Values Brochure” was published for the first time. This book tells the moving stories of 94 models in the whole district vividly in five chapters, including the chapter of pioneer, the chapter of responsibility, the chapter of dedication, the chapter of contribution and the chapter of innovation, and publicized fully the noble spirit of models in various sectors, aiming to guide carders and the masses in the whole district to learn the moving stories of models, feel the integrity and positive power of the true, the good and the beautiful reflected in them and create an intense atmosphere of worshiping virtue and benevolence as well as emulating role models in the whole district.

 

To tell the “revolutionary memories” in photos

 

At the activity, Shen Daming and Yu Jie unveiled together the “Revolutionary Memories - the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Wuhan” photo exhibition. This exhibition was introduced from cooperative memorial hall in other province for the first time with active communication and collaboration between the Site Memorial of the Second National Congress of CPC and Site Memorial of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Wuhan.

 

This exhibition is the epitome of the regular exhibitions in Site Memorial of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Wuhan, which tells with detailed photos and texts the history that the CPC relocated in Wuhan in April, 1927 and returned to Shanghai that year experiencing the historical change of wane and wax, failure and favorable turn of revolution and the hard journey of the CPC’s early exploration of revolution path in China in five sections, namely the northward movement of revolutionary center and the relocation of CPC in Wuhan, the partial failure of the great revolution and the 5th National Congress of CPC, the deepened revolutionary crisis and the efforts of the CPC to address the crisis, the overall failure of the great revolution and holding of the August 7th Meeting, and the rise of agrarian revolutionary war and the Central Committee of the CPC leaving Wuhan.

 

At the site, the reporter learnt that Site Memorial of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Wuhan is the only site memorial named by the old site of the Central Committee of the CPC in China, which shows the magnificent revolutionary struggles of leaders of the Central Committee of the CPC and the influential decisions determining the advancement of revolution in China made by them from September, 1926 to October, 1927 through restoring exhibition and regular exhibition. Since September 30, 2016, this Site Memorial has vigorously promoted the "Revolutionary Engine" project, carried forward revolutionary culture and received over 150,000 visitors.
