On May 24, 2023, Ravit Baer, Consul General of Israel in Shanghai, along with her delegation, visited Shanghai Shixi High School in Jing’an. The visiting guests were received by Chen Yuqing, Director-General of the Education Bureau of Jing’an District, and Dong Junwu, Principal of Shanghai Shixi High School. Accompanying them were representatives from the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Jing’an District, the General Office of the Education Bureau of Jing’an District, and the Educational Cooperation and Exchange Center of Jing’an District.

Consul General Ravit Baer and her delegation, accompanied by students of the school, explored the campus, engaged with students, and gained insight into the school’s educational philosophy and unique characteristics.

Following the visit was a brief and harmonious discussion and exchange.

On behalf of the Education Bureau of Jing’an District, Director-General Chen Yuqing warmly welcomed Consul General Ravit Baer and her delegation. He also expressed that Jing’an, as a highly developed urban area, has been pursuing international cooperation and educational exchanges. With the strong support of the Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai, Jing’an District’s education system has successfully organized a range of scientific and creative humanities education activities and educational visits to Israel. Looking ahead, there is a hope for Israel and Jing’an District to collaborate in exploring cutting-edge ideas and practices in education, exchanging educational insights and experiences, and contributing new momentum and vitality to the long-term development of education on both sides.

Consul General Ravit Baer expressed that she was deeply impressed by Shanghai Shixi High School as the first stop of her visit to public schools. Students’ fluency in English and self-confidence showcased their excellence and reinforced her commitment to enhancing cooperation with Jing’an in education, science, technology, humanities, and other areas. She expressed her willingness to facilitate further exchanges and cooperation between both sides, contributing to mutual development.

Principal Dong Junwu provided a concise overview of the development history, as well as the foreign cooperation and exchange initiatives of Shanghai Shixi High School. He expressed their eagerness to seize this opportunity to foster and advance exchanges and collaboration with Israel in the realm of basic education.

Jing’an District serves as a cultural hub where Chinese and foreign cultures meet. It is hoped that the visit of the Consul General of Israel in Shanghai to Jing’an will enhance the development of international educational exchanges in the district and contribute to the international growth of Jing’an District.
