Many foreign style garden houses and new style lane houses stand on the both sides of Yuyuan Road, from Jing An Temple in Changde Road in the east to the Zhaofeng Park (also known as Zhongshan Park) in the west. Among them luxury and big houses are not rare and even the offices of the district government, public security bureau and court, children's palace, hospital and post office along the road are confiscated foreign style houses.
Compared with other places of Shanghai the lane houses in this area are well preserved. The lane houses with various styles and the phoenix trees along the road contrast beautifully with each other, reflecting the distinctive old Shanghai style. Wherever you go you can see Romanesque columns but no two of them are the same, a really wonderful view.
