Draft News Release on the “Flowers in Jing’an District” Xinhu Tulip Expo 2017

The spring of “blossoming tulips” is around the corner again. From March 12 to April 4, 2017, Xinhu Tulip Expo 2017 themed as “Flowers in Jing’an District” will be held in Daning Park, recognized as the National AAA Grade Scenic Area, one of the ten most beautiful scenic spots of Shanghai and the second largest ecological landscape city park in Puxi, Shanghai.

With the number of planted tulips of about 2 million and the total cultivated area of about 40,000 m2, five tulip fields will be prepared in such areas as the north gate of Daning Park, the road between the north gate and Conference Center, Yueliang Bay, Luoma Square and Nanguo Fengguang. The North Gate Exhibition Area represents the area of China. Totally 330,000 tulips in such colors as white, pink and light purple are planted in this area, creating a large area of curved colorful belts and featuring the change of sceneries as visitors walk. The Nanguo Fengguang Exhibition Area represents the area of Holland. Totally 510,000 tulips in such colors as yellow, pink and red are planted in this area, building the landscape of flowers in the form of straight line and featuring the enthusiastic and gradient colors of tulips. The Luoma Square Exhibition Area represents the area of France. Totally 1.02 million tulips in such colors as yellow, pink and red are planted in this area, creating a European-style landscape of colorful flowers in the form of straight line and showing the characteristics of Dutch tulip. The Yueliang Bay Exhibition Area represents the area of New Zealand. Totally 110,000 tulips in such colors as yellow, pink and black are planted in this area, building tulip gardens located in the areas with different heights along the valley and exhibiting the well-arranged tulips of New Zealand. Meanwhile, 14 bamboo rafts filled with tulips will be placed in the lake near areas like White Beach, Conference Center and Nanguo Fengguang, and element landscapes with subjects like “Looking for the Sunshine of France”, “Flowers Blossom in the Cold Valley of New Zealand” and “Kissing Dolls of Holland” will be built in corresponding exhibition areas to enhance the beauty of both themselves and tulip fields and bring out the best in each other.

During the Expo, Daning Tulip Life Festival themed “Impression of Taiwan” will be held in the Luoma Square Exhibition Area, giving an opportunity for visitors to experience the rich activities with the integration of distinctive products, interactive games and delicious food of Taiwan.
