The Shanghai Charity Week was observed from September 2 to 8, 2024. On September 6, the Jiangning Road Sub-district hosted the "Gathering in Renhe for Joyful Reading" charity event on Renhe Street, celebrating community integration and the spirit of philanthropy.
Renhe Street of the Jiangning Road Sub-district is a back street characterized by warmth and tenderness. It links Jing'an Sunshine Home on Xinfeng Road at one end and Yuyao Road Kindergarten on Haifang Road at the other. The street shows consideration for special groups while also attending to the needs of children and youth. It consistently embodies a strong sense of humanity and a dedication to charitable endeavors.
This charitable event leverages this year's newly created theme mural on Renhe Street as a central element, integrating various charitable endeavors to collectively craft a new narrative of coordinated community philanthropy.
According to reports, the Jiangning Road Sub-district adheres to the principle of "Participation, Responsibility, Contribution, and Sharing by Everyone" while comprehensively advancing the governance of Changping Road as part of the "Everyone Engaged" initiative. In March this year, Renhe Street, an integral back street off Changping Road, initiated a charitable project under the theme "Diversity, Integration, and Harmony in Jiangning". The sub-district is committed to upholding the vital concept of a people-oriented city. Efforts will be intensified to encourage charitable enterprises, social organizations, and individuals to engage in philanthropy. By exploring innovative forms of charitable activities, the sub-district aims to continuously strengthen the collective goodwill. The goal is to make "respect for kindness" a social consensus, "a propensity for kindness" a spiritual force, and "acts of kindness" a way of life. Together, these efforts will contribute to building a well-governed Jiangning community characterized by harmony and a shared aspiration for goodness.
Starting from March this year, Renhe Street, as a back street off Changping Road where the Jiangning Road Sub-district aims to create a well-governed community for all this year, has actively responded to Changping Road's call for "everyone’s participation, responsibility, contribution, and sharing". Under the theme of "Diversity, Integration, and Harmony in Jiangning", a collaborative cultural wall mural activity has been initiated. Representatives from the municipal and district People's Congress, members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, figures active in the united front work, volunteer groups, as well as public institutions, schools, and community residents under the jurisdiction of the district, have all enthusiastically participated as primary collaborators.
This year, the Jiangning Community Charity Organization is honoring Renhe Street's principle of "diversity and inclusion" through its "Micro Wishes" initiative, which aims to assist individuals with disabilities and minors. The project has successfully gathered 50 micro wishes, divided into the "Sunshine Micro Wishes" and "Children's Shared Micro Wishes" categories. These wishes have all been adopted by Pan Shuhong, a deputy to the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Vice President of the Shanghai Bar Association, and the Chief Partner and Director of Shanghai Hengjian Law Firm.
At the event, government leaders presented donation certificates to Keppel Urban Development (China) Co., Ltd. and the Shanghai Buddhist Lay Association for their contributions to the collaborative Renhe Wall Mural Charitable Project, as well as to Shanghai Hengjian Law Firm for their support of the "Micro Wish" initiative.
The community contact point of the People's Congress of Jiangning Road Sub-district, serving as a key collaborator, has invested substantial effort and support in safeguarding the welfare of disabled individuals and minors within the community. During the event, the community contact point of the People's Congress of the sub-district established an information collection point at Sunshine Home and the Juvenile Protection Workstation.
The Shanghai Institute of Financial Services for the Real Economy and the Jing'an District Yuyao Road Kindergarten, both situated on Renhe Street, have independently entered into collaboration agreements with the Haifang Village Residential Quarter, to which Renhe Street is affiliated.
During the event, the Jiangning Road Sub-district unveiled the next phase of the "Harmony in Jiangning" public welfare initiatives.
The assembled leaders inaugurated the cultural wall of the Renhe Street "Joyful Reading" neighborhood, heralding the commencement of a new chapter for the district's future development.
Upon the conclusion of the event, the officials and guests toured the thematic mural area of Renhe Street. They engaged in QR code scanning to interpret the murals and participated in interactive commentary, embracing the essence of the neighborhood and celebrating the aesthetics of Renhe Street.
