In order to further expand the spillover effect of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) and improve the quality and capacity of consumption in Jing’an District, the launching ceremony of the “160th Anniversary of West Nanjing Road and Global Shopping” was held at Wujiang Road Leisure Street on November 21. Representatives from the Consulate General of Japan in China, the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Shanghai, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, the Mexico Asia Pacific Commercial Federation and enterprise representatives from various countries attended the ceremony.

the 160th Anniversary of West Nanjing Road.
Transforming from a horse racing venue, the century-old West Nanjing Road has continuously changed in business or culture, modern or quaint, and protection or development, embracing a spectacular “dual life”. So far, as a pivotal part of building Shanghai into an international consumption center city, the century-old West Nanjing Road has become one of the areas with the highest density of international high-end brands in Shanghai, seeing more than 2,000 well-known brands at home and abroad.
As a business district with the largest number of first stores in the city for years straight, West Nanjing Road Business District has actively exerted its influence as a “world showcase”, as well as its advantage of being the first choice for international brands to explore China’s market, to focus on high-end consumption, the first store of new products, night consumption, and tax-free consumption, thus continuously leading fashion, creating characteristics and developing highlights.
Since this year, CITIC Pacific and JC PLAZA have been renovated and reopened, bringing together numerous international pioneering luxury brands and local emerging forces. Besides, the century-old “Zhang Garden” is about to be unveiled. As is reported,
seizing the opportunity of its 160th anniversary, West Nanjing Road has organized the “160th Anniversary of West Nanjing Road and Global Shopping”, which focuses on the golden West Nanjing Road Business District with century-old excellence. More than 20 brands from 10 countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Mexico, Argentina, and Bulgaria participate in this activity, providing consumers with characteristic products and experiences of all kinds, and delivering consumption scenarios for consumers to participate in and experience the CIIE in the downtown. In addition, the activity will also be promoted on online platforms, especially Douyin, to interplay with the “FIFA World Cup” for integration of business, tourism, culture, and sports and an increase in its influence and the number of visitors.
The activity will last until November 30.
It is reported that at the time of the 160th anniversary of West Nanjing Road, the business district will also launch a series of wonderful activities such as Anniversary Celebrating Activities, New Year’s Welcome Season, Brand Pop-up Show, Characteristic Consumption Festival, and Sales Promotion Carnival, so as to be an active part for building a demonstration area of the international consumption center city.
The first one is Anniversary Celebrating Activities. Plaza 66 holds a Home to Luxury Costume Party with many international well-known brands offering exclusive, first-launch, and limited edition products, presenting a benchmark trend feast for high-end consumption.
