In March, spring is in the air. The 2023 Jing’an·Xinhu Tulip Expo came as scheduled, inviting residents and visitors to a romantic date with spring.

Themed “Blooming Jing’an·The First Glimpse of Spring in Shanghai”, this year’s expo set up 33 floral scenic points with 600,000 tulips in safe areas of Jing’an including parks, business districts, roadside flower belts, greenbelts and communities, so that residents can appreciate the charm of tulips—the “queue in the kingdom of flowers”—and the beauty of spring in the central urban area of Shanghai.

In Jing’an Sculpture Park, an important exhibition site of the expo, tulips will be integrated with different creative sculptures to create the largest artistic tulip field in central Shanghai.

Different from many other flower expos, Jing’an·Xinhu Tulip Expo has entered business districts of Jing’an, where the beauty of blossoms are shown through artistic flower pots ingeniously designed with various themes.
Meanwhile, the expo is combined with brand and public-benefit activities. While adding an artistic vibe to these districts, the expo organizes diverse business, tourism and cultural experience activities for residents to feel the diversified and inclusive culture of Shanghai.
In Joy City of Jing’an, more than 7,000 pots of tulips will be displayed on the Ferris Wheel Square, in the atrium of South Tower and on the glass stairs of the Night Food Sky Space, with the hope of bringing happiness to residents.

CITIC Square will build a tulip garden in which citizens can enjoy the poetic scenery of spring while rambling along garden paths.
Jiuguang Department Store and Shanghai Jiuguang Center have together decorated their landmark steps with tulips and placed nearly 6,000 pots of tulips on big steps, the pedestrian street, terraces and other places, presenting a beautiful picture of Jiuguang among flowers.

Jing An Kerry Centre has designed a street garden inside, fostering a unique atmosphere of spring that brings joy to all visitors.

Jing’an’s streets and lanes, interspersed with colorful tulips, all reveal a strong touch of spring. In the flower and green belts of Friendship Hall, West Nanjing Road, Changde Road, West Beijing Road, north and south squares of Shanghai Railway Station, Hengfeng Road, Moling Road and West Tianmu Road, elegant and fragrant tulip blossoms have been part of the streetscapes.

For the convenience of residents and visitors in flower viewing and spring outings, Jing’an District’s tourism service center has selected cultural tourism resources in its surrounding areas to create four characteristic micro-tourism routes for the expo along which residents and visitors can enjoy seas of tulips and the fine view of the Suzhou Creek.

According to a source, the expo, after eight years of development since 2015, has become one of the earliest and largest-scale flower expos in spring held in central urban areas of Shanghai, and it is also Jing’an District’s first major cultural tourism brand activity within a year. This “date in spring” has long been deeply integrated into the work and lives of residents and has been the district’s appealing cultural tourism brand that represents the deep integration of culture, business and tourism.
Jing’an·Xinhu Tulip Expo is co-hosted by Xinhu Real Estate and the Greening and City Appearance Administration of Jing’an District, and has been strongly supported by the Bureau of Culture and Tourism of Jing’an District, the greening management center of Jing’an District, the tourism service center of Jing’an District and many other units.
