The 7th China · Shanghai Jing’an International Sculpture Project has been open for over a month. During this period, there have been numerous cultural and artistic activities held in Jing’an Sculpture Park, attracting an increasing number of citizens to come and appreciate the sculpture artworks. Outside the park, a variety of sculptures are distributed throughout the extended exhibition areas, bringing the art of sculpture into the streets and lanes of Jing’an.

 

Guotai Jun’an Greenbelt—Great Elephant

Great Elephant is a sculpture created by Lebanese artist Nadim Karam. The warm body of the elephant reflects the surroundings in a light and familiar way. It is like the guardian of memories, reminding people that without memories, there can be no sense of reliance.

Joinbuy Center, Daning—Temporal Resonance

Temporal Resonance is a collaborative creation by Lu Zhuojian, a graduate of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the new media art team Ether.Studio. With its rhythm blending with the palette in pixels, Temporal Resonance sways to the beat, capturing imagery of Shanghai nights in the new epoch.

Shanghai Shixi High School—24-hour Art Gallery

The 24-hour Art Gallery, created by Zhang Zhaoying, a graduate of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, challenges the traditional concept of the “white box” space in art galleries. Art galleries have embraced the outdoors, permeating every corner, and a fresh “artistic history” is unfolding at Shanghai Shixi High School.

MixC World, Suzhou Creek—“Hopscotch”

This art piece, reminiscent of the game of hopscotch, has a long and unique name, One for More Gains & Two for Outstanding Performance & Three for Full Preparation & Four to Run Forward & for Sole Victory or Position or Top Three or ... The creator, Lawrence Weiner is widely recognized as a pioneer of conceptual art development in the 1960s. One can play the name of hopscotch as we did in childhood, jumping while reading the text within the artwork, exploring the connection between ourselves and the world.

Zhang Garden—Polyphonic Flying Tune

Polyphonic Flying Tune also comes from Nadim Karam, an artist hailing from Lebanon. The art piece resonates with Nadim Karam’s artistic heartbeat, deeply rooted in dreams and stories. The exhibit involves various mediums such as painting and sculpture. Through fairytale-like fancies, it depicts traces of memories and delves into the relationships between culture, humanity, and nature with creative vitality and profundity.

Zhenning Wet Market—There Is Time ...

The There Is Time ... and There Is Time ... series of artworks are created by the artist nathanslab. They imply reconnecting ourselves with nature and also that every day can be a wonderful day.

CITIC Pacific Square—Mailbox

Mailbox is an artwork brought by Sencity, an Australian cutting-edge technology company. Through sound, light, electricity, AI, and mailbox, it extends an invitation of joy, collecting laughter and responding to happiness.
