Impacted by the cold wave weather, temperatures in Shanghai continue to drop. With the increase in heating and electricity usage, the risk of fire incidents also rises. In response to this, the Fire and Rescue Detachment of Jing’an District has taken a series of measures to focus on winter fire prevention and ensure fire safety.

To promote winter fire prevention and control efforts, the Fire and Rescue Detachment has launched extensive fire safety awareness campaigns in various sub-districts and towns, communities, and commercial establishments within the district.

Simultaneously, the Fire and Rescue Detachment has collaborated with local police stations and grassroots community organizations to mobilize fire volunteers for thorough inspections and rectifications of fire hazards in residential communities, key units, and shops along the streets throughout the district.

During the inspections, the Fire and Rescue Detachment primarily checked the integrity and functionality of fire-fighting equipment and devices, ensured that evacuation routes and emergency exits were unobstructed, without any clutter or obstacles, verified if the electrical wiring was properly installed and met the required standards, and examined the presence of personnel on duty in key areas.

In response to key winter fire prevention areas such as safe usage of heating, electricity, and gas, as well as the proper use of heating equipment and gas appliances, smoking in bed, and burning incense during the Winter Solstice, the Fire and Rescue Detachment conducted thorough inspections, provided safety tips, disseminated knowledge about evacuation and self-rescue to the general public, further enhancing the publics awareness of winter fire safety and emergency response capabilities.
