On February 5, the 11th day of the Spring Festival Travel Rush, Shanghai’s railway stations maintain a high level of operations. To deal with the inconvenience of passengers caused by widespread low-temperature rainy, snowy, and freezing weather conditions, the stations have introduced several services and measures to ensure their safety during their trips.
Due to the impact of the aforesaid conditions in recent days, some trains entering and leaving Shanghai’s railway stations have experienced delays and cancellations. The stations closely monitor the weather conditions and promptly announce train cancellations, delays, and other information through official micro-blogs, station broadcasts, electronic display screens, and Shanghai’s emergency early-warning information publication platform.
At the stations, cadres and staff members form a “commando” to ensure the guidance and safety protection of key areas such as elevators and escalators, platforms, and entry/exit passages. The ticketing departments dynamically adjust the functions of ticket windows and actively facilitate ticket refunds, changes, and other related services for passengers. The equipment departments strengthen the operation and maintenance of lighting, air conditioning, drinking water, fire control, and other facilities and equipment. In addition, each station intensifies its efforts in communicating with local management departments and, based on passenger flow conditions, timely applies for extensions of operating hours for nearby subway, bus, and taxi services.
According to statistics, during the first 10 days of the Spring Festival Travel Rush, Shanghai’s railway stations transported a total of 4,716,200 passengers, with an average of 471,600 per day. Today (February 5), they are expected to transport 518,000 passengers, including 166,000 from Shanghai Railway Station, 64,000 from Shanghai South Railway Station, and 288,000 from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. To meet the travel demands of passengers, the stations have today added 78 additional trains to destinations such as Anhui, the Sichuan-Chongqing region, Xuzhou, and more. Plus, from 0:00 to 5:00 tomorrow (February 6), 87 additional overnight temporary trains will be operated.
