Stacking and clearance of construction waste

for many old residential communities.

but also causes inconveniences to residents’ lives and travel.

Recently, a specialized “large container” for the collection of construction waste—an integrated construction waste container—has made its debut in the residential quarter of the Sanxing Building located in the West Zhijiang Road Sub-district. By making an online appointment, residents can have waste cleared and transported immediately, achieving the objective that “construction waste does not stain the ground”.

Sanxing Building Residential Community

Built in the 1990s, it is a typical old residential community. Due to limited objective conditions, there had been no dedicated construction waste container rooms. Whenever there was a renovation peak initiated by homeowners, problems such as disorderly stacking and placement of construction waste in temporary stacking sites would loom large.

To effectively tackle this problem, the Urban Operation Center of West Zhijiang Road Sub-district piloted the integrated construction waste container in the residential quarter of the Sanxing Building, aiming to actively explore a new model for waste clearance, governance, and management.

The reporter learned that the entire container is enclosed, featuring dust reduction and deodorization functions. Residents can make an appointment online through a mobile phone applet, after which the waste clearance company will place a turnover container at a specified location ahead of the scheduled time. Once residents dispose of their packed construction waste into the turnover container, the company directly loads the container onto a mechanized transfer vehicle and removes it from the premises in less than five minutes. This process not only significantly reduces the duration of operations within the area but also increases the efficiency of sanitation work and waste collection. Furthermore, it effectively prevents waste from staining the ground, mitigates the recurrence of dust, and reduces noise pollution.

The construction waste that has plagued residents for a long time finally finds a “resting place”. “Now the streets of the residential community are clean, and everyone can live a more comfortable life.” Since its introduction, this model has received praise from the residents.

Moving forward, West Zhijiang Road Sub-district will adhere to the problem orientation, constantly summarizing the experience from the container clearance model. Building on the pilot program, it aims to appropriately extend its application, genuinely enhance the precision of operations, and improve the effectiveness of waste sorting efforts, thereby continually boosting the happiness of the residents within the sub-district.
