Under the trend of urban tech revival, the West Nanjing Road Functional Area is becoming an important experimental zone driven by digital economic scenarios. The area aims to build itself into a world-class central activity zone and a core area of an international consumption center city.
On March 29, the Science and Technology Commission of Jing’an District (hereinafter referred to as the “Commission”) and Shanghai Join Buy Group organized an enterprise symposium titled “Engaging with West Nanjing Road, Collaborating on High-tech Innovation”. The event brought together representatives from 15 enterprises within the West Nanjing Road Functional Area for face-to-face dialogues, interpreting various supportive policies for enterprises.
During the event, the Commission introduced relevant policies for promoting innovation and development of the high-tech industry in Shanghai and Jing’an District. The responsible personnel from the Commission provided detailed explanations on a series of substantial support measures based on the regional characteristics and industry foundations of the district, the local orientations for enterprise development, as well as various topics of interest to the enterprises, such as introduction and residency of innovative talents.
Representatives from 15 enterprises in the West Nanjing Road Functional Area, including Shanghai Fudata Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Tongban Information Services Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Guodong Network Communication Co., Ltd., introduced their respective business profiles and expressed themselves on the policy support and professional services they hoped to receive for their development. In the interactive session that followed, responsible personnel from the Commission and the Shanghai Join Buy Group responded on-site to practical demands raised by the participating enterprises.
Given that innovative high-tech enterprises are indispensable from the support of financial capital for development, this event also invited several banks, allowing them to listen to the investment and financing needs of enterprises. It served as a bridge for communication and connection between financial institutions and innovative high-tech enterprises.
Currently, according to the deployment of the “Three-Year Action Plan (2023-2025) for Enhancing Innovative High-tech Momentum in Jing’an District”, Jing’an District is implementing actions to empower the innovative high-tech scenarios and deepening the construction of the West Nanjing Road digital business district. These actions aim to support the creation of situational and live digital consumption scenarios such as immersive experiences, AR (Augmented Reality) shopping, and cross-border integrated services in shopping malls. The district is also exploring pilot projects in data ownership, transaction circulation, cross-border transmission, and other areas. The diverse application scenarios enable high-tech innovation and business innovation to mutually support and promote each other within the “RMB 100-billion-level business district” of West Nanjing Road.
This month, the Commission organized four informative exchange symposiums, visiting the four major functional areas of Daning, Shanghai Shibei Hi-tech Park, Suzhou Creek, and West Nanjing Road. “Although this round of symposiums has come to an end, our work in serving the enterprises has just begun. We will continue to engage in one-on-one communication with the enterprises, addressing their needs and providing tailored assistance to help them overcome challenges and unleash their innovative potential,” said the responsible personnel from the Commission to the reporter.
