On March 28, Woxue Ski Comprehensive Training Center was completed in Jing’an Sports Center. Under the guidance of the Jing’an District Bureau of Sports, the Center is led by the Jing’an District Sports Federation and the Jing’an Snow Sports Association and initiated and operated by Woxue Sports. Unlimited to the seasons, it brings skiing from the mountains in winter to the doorstep of the city.

Covering an area of nearly 600 square meters, the Center features two of the latest “Enoki mushroom” dry ski simulators in China. Additionally, it is also equipped with a comprehensive physical fitness zone, a strength training zone, and a trampoline training zone.

The “Enoki mushroom” dry ski simulator is a training machine used for the first time in Shanghai. The skiing surface is made of special resin produced through extrusion technology, resembling the shape of an Enoki mushroom. Each square meter is evenly distributed with 16,000 small balls. The dry snow material has excellent resilience, providing a skiing experience that closely resembles real snow conditions.

Wang Dong, President of the Jing’an Snow Sports Association, told reporters that the Center’s state-of-the-art facilities cater to users of all ages and families with zero skiing experience, intermediate to advanced skiers, as well as competitive athletes. It provides citizens with a more efficient, accessible, and cost-effective choice for skiing. In the next six months, it will host at least three events with the ski simulator training machine in use.

The Jing’an District Sports Federation said that the Center is a base of social elite training, serving as a talent reserve for competitive sports in Shanghai, and also the training base for the Jing’an District Youth Ski Team.

The Center is not only equipped with advanced and extensive training equipment and facilities but also manned with a team of exceptional coaches from home and abroad. It is ready to train the members of the Jing’an District Ski Team in an international, professional, and scientific manner and prepare them for high-level competition events.

According to the reporter, the Center reaches out to over 30 schools in the surrounding area and offers them ice and snow sports activities including professional skiing instruction courses and lectures on ice and snow knowledge, thereby promoting the popularization and development of ice and snow sports at schools across the Jing’an District.

Currently, the Jing’an District Youth Ski Team has made a name in major events in China including the 14th National Winter Games, FIS Far East Cup, National Championship, and National Champions Game. They keep reaching higher results and expanding the “skiing circle of friends of the Jing’an District”.

In the future, as the training base of Jing’an District, the Center will fully play its role as a leading force in youth competitive skiing in Shanghai. With the Jing’an District Youth Ski Team as the core, it will continuously improve the mechanisms of “recruitment, teaching, training, competition, and rewards” to establish safe, scientific, professional, and cutting-edge educational objectives to a higher standard. Meanwhile, it will also make full use of policies related to the integration of sports and education for youth and the development of comprehensive quality education. That way, it contributes its share to cultivating more excellent skiing talents in Jing’an District. Besides, through skiing results achieved in competitive events, it can also promote the sport to the public and actively explore new solutions and directions to popularize various sports items in the Jing’an District.
