As a cultural and creative industrial park in Shanghai and a characteristic park of Jing’an District, the Xiu 709 Media Park, located at 709 Lingshi Road, has transformed itself from the Shanghai No.1 Petroleum Machinery Factory into an e-sports cultural and creative park. Through coordinated development with surrounding parks, it has established an e-sports ecological circle.

After years of development, the Xiu 709 Media Park has evolved into a comprehensive cultural and creative industrial park focusing on e-sports, film and television, and cultural media, and integrating office, production, entertainment, and supporting businesses.

The park is located along Lingshi Road in the Daning Road Sub-district, Jing’an District, known as the “Lingshi China E-Sports Center” and “E-Sports Center of Universe”. It spans from Lingshi Road in the south, extending northward to Yonghe Road and westward to Wanrong Road. It is an industrial park independently invested in, transformed, and operated by Shanghai Electric Group Properties Co., Ltd.

In the process of urban renewal, the park makes full use of the old factory elements of traditional industrial parks to uphold the principle of restoring the old as old. It retains the chimney and water tower in the old factory buildings and injects a new soul of “e-sports, culture, and creativity”. Based on the media industry, the park actively introduces cultural and creative industries such as e-sports, sports, as well as film and television, enhancing the quality and advancing the upgrades of regional industries. VSPO, an e-sports enterprise settling in the park, focuses on organizing e-sports events and producing pan-entertainment content. In 2022, the park was rated as one of the top 10 typical cases of Shanghai’s urban renewal and selected as a Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industrial Park in 2023-2025.
