On July 6, “Mozart’s Wonder World — Immersive Light and Shadow Art Exhibition” was held in Meet You Museum Shanghai Jing’an Pavilion. As the first Mozart-themed immersive light and shadow art exhibition in Asia, this exhibition marks another innovative endeavor of the Meet You Museum in the field of art exhibition. It brings together an authoritative team composed of image artists, composers, pianists, and animation artists from Italy to seamlessly blend music, light and shadow, installation, and static exhibition, offering a multi-dimensional and intelligent presentation of Mozart’s short and wonderful legendary life.
“Returning” to Europe in the 18th Century to Decode Mozart’s Music Code
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in a family of musicians in Salzburg, Austria, in 1756. Under the guidance and rigorous training of his father Leopold, he exhibited astonishing musical talent from an early age. Mozart’s childhood, spent traveling around Europe, endowed him with a broad vision and endless creativity, shaping his distinctive musical style as a “musical genius”.
The static exhibition area centers around the theme of “Mozart’s Travel”. Immersed in the melodies of Mozart’s classical musical works, visitors seem to return to Europe in the 18th century, travelling alongside him around the diverse landscapes of Europe of that era. While deeply exploring Mozart’s life experience, they can decode the development of this talented musician’s musical style and the brilliance of his musical works.
The exhibition also set up a number of interactive installations inspired by Mozart’s travel and music creation, such as a carousel, a hot air balloon, little stars, and a classical piano, inviting visitors to “approach” Mozart and his musical life at a closer distance.
Music and light perfectly combine to convey Mozart’s tribute to love
In his short 35-year life, Mozart composed over 600 works, encompassing nearly all musical genres and forms. In the light and shadow exhibition area of this exhibition, 10 classical excerpts from Mozart’s most representative and influential works, such as the rearranged 12 Variations on “Ah, vous dirai-je maman” and the peak opera The Magic Flute were exhibited. These masterpieces perfectly combine with exquisite light and shadow images, guiding visitors into Mozart’s spiritual world and immersing themselves in the praise of love and yearning for innocence of this “child prodigy blessed by the God of Music”.
The artistic director of this exhibition is the renowned international digital artist Massimiliano Siccardi. Luca Longobardi, a famous composer and pianist from Italy, rearranged Mozart’s classic works, blending symphony, electronic music, solo, and aria to create a unique atmosphere that merges tradition with modernity. Vittorio Guidotti, with extensive experience, injected creative inspiration into the videos and animations, making them a highlight in the exhibition.
