Shanghai Boards and Cards Games Culture Museum

The museum is located on the first floor of the Shanghai Chess Academy at 595 West Nanjing Road, covering over 1,000 square meters. It houses over 1,200 exhibits related to six major games: Go, Chinese chess, international chess, international checkers, Gobang, and bridge, from ancient to modern times, both Chinese and foreign.

There are many precious relics, such as double-sided ceramic Go pieces from the late Tang Dynasty, glass Go pieces from the Song Dynasty, Yunzi Go game pieces from the Qing Dynasty used by Wei Haihong, and Marshal Chen Yi's travel Go set.

Besides competitive chess games like Go and Chinese chess, the museum also displays casual games like Ludo, Chinese military chess, Mahjong, and even table games like Legends of the Three Kingdoms and Werewolf, instantly bridging the gap with visitors.

The museum has multiple interactive experience areas offering human-machine battles in various chess games. Visitors can choose the level of difficulty according to their proficiency.

The first floor also features a Chen Zude Memorial Exhibition, with hundreds of precious photos, manuscripts, medals, and other collections recording the lifelong connection with Go of this first-generation Go player of the People's Republic of China. The exhibition will be open until July 2, 2025.
