Inaugural Suhewan Forum Tackles Chinese Firms’ Overseas Challenges

The first Suhewan Forum, themed "Supporting Chinese Enterprises in Global Expansion and Cross-Border Growth," took place at the Suhe Centre in Shanghai on April 18.

The event gathered over 120 participants, including legal experts and scholars from government agencies, top universities, industry associations, and chambers of commerce, along with professionals from enterprises, law firms, and media outlets. Together, they explored solutions to address the growing legal service demands of Chinese enterprises, particularly private businesses, amid global economic challenges and increasing trade restrictions. The discussions aimed to support the sustained international expansion of these enterprises and contribute to high-quality economic development. The attendees also included Wang Xiaohan, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce, along with Wang Xiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jing’an District Committee and Secretary of the Politics and Law Committee. Both delivered speeches at the event.

Attending leaders and guests jointly unveiled three research publications: Research Report on Chinese Enterprises' Overseas Expansion Strategy and Legal Support Demand, Legal Guidelines on Equity Repurchase, and Grandall Law Firm's Manual on Investment & Financing Risk Identification and Management. Additionally, they launched a public welfare legal hotline to provide robust support for the development of the private sector. In a short video message, Grandall Law Firm's seven international offices shared their commitment to "Unity in Rule of Law for Prosperity" and extended their best wishes for the success of the Suhewan Forum. Yang Qian, Member of the Leading Party Members Group and Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Gu Dingyun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jing’an District Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department, attended the event and jointly inaugurated the "Suhewan Forum".
