On April 25, the "Ageless: The Timeless Tale of Intangible Cultural Heritage Lacquer Art" exhibition opened at Meilongzhen Restaurant on West Nanjing Road, which attracted large crowds of visitors.

Inside Meilongzhen Restaurant, exquisite lacquerware glows under soft lighting, showcasing the captivating elegance of Chinese aesthetics.

The striking carved red lacquer scholar's box with a phoenix amid peony blossoms captivates crowds with its vibrant vermilion hues and exquisite craftsmanship. Many visitors eagerly lifted their mobile phones to capture the highlights and features of the exhibition.

"I am delighted to admire exquisite works of intangible cultural heritage lacquer at the century-old Meilongzhen Restaurant. Some pieces are antiques or even older collectibles. I can savor delicious food and nourish my soul here," said Ms. Wei, a local resident.

Besides the exquisite lacquerware, the exhibition also showcased raw materials and detailed the craftsmanship, which allowed visitors to better appreciate the lacquerware.

Qian Hongfang, founder of VONGU, guided visitors through the exhibition. "This colorful lacquer screen features irreversible engraved lacquer technique," she explained, pointing to the intricate peony carvings on the screen. "The essence of lacquer art lies in its masterful craftsmanship."

The curator noted that Meilongzhen Restaurant was chosen as the venue specifically for its rich cultural legacy. Meilongzhen Restaurant seamlessly blends Chinese features with Haipai culture, enhanced by the exquisite lacquerware art. This elegant and timeless setting enables visitors to immerse themselves in the charm of intangible cultural heritage.
