On May 23, the Daning and Xishan Cultural-Sports-Commerce-Tourism Collaboration and the Launch Ceremony of the Sunra 2025 Xishan Wanshan Lake Marathon were held at the Daning Convention Center.
At the event, the Management Committee of Daning Function Zone, Jing'an District, Shanghai, and the People's Government of Xishan District, Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, signed a strategic cooperation agreement to strengthen regional collaboration in culture, sports, commerce, and tourism.
This partnership reflects the commitment of both sides to advancing the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta by exploring innovative models and pathways for regional cooperation. The agreement covers key areas such as industrial development, cultural tourism, sports events, and commercial consumption, with each initiative tailored to enhance regional synergy, industrial competitiveness, and consumer vitality.
Daning Function Zone in Jing'an District is one of Shanghai's leading areas for industry-city integration, boasting a thriving ecosystem. It is home to Daning Park, the largest ecological landscape park in central Shanghai, renowned as the most scenic route for the Jing'an Half Marathon. The park's digital running track, the longest smart track in central Shanghai, was named one of the 2024 Top 10 Recreational and Fitness Trails in the Yangtze River Delta. The Daning Function Zone Jing'an Half Marathon, now in its seventh year, hit record participation numbers this March, cementing its status as Shanghai’s must-run race.
Beyond sports, Daning Function Zone is expanding its industrial focus, particularly on the ultra-high-definition (UHD) audiovisual industry and skin health. It aims to become an international hub for UHD audiovisual innovation, fostering a full-chain ecosystem from technology R&D to content production and application and supporting Shanghai's Jing'an UHD Audiovisual Industrial Cluster. Meanwhile, the initiative is fast-tracking the Beauty Innovation Jing'an Skin Health Management Center, harnessing a tripartite collaboration between government bodies, medical research institutions, and startups to fuse R&D, commercialization, and market penetration—fostering a dynamic beauty-tech economic cluster.
Daning Function Zone and Xishan will prioritize industrial synergy, pooling complementary resources to propel emerging sectors—particularly digital creativity and metaverse development—through integrated innovation ecosystems.
The partnership also establishes a seamless event coordination mechanism, offering marathon runners more opportunities and conveniences while converting event participation into broader social and economic benefits.
Daning Function Zone and Xishan District will enhance cooperation in commercial consumption, integrating sports events, cultural tourism, and business resources to create dynamic consumption hubs. These efforts will provide residents with more convenient and pleasant experiences while invigorating the Yangtze River Delta's consumer market.
Leveraging this collaboration, Daning Function Zone and Xishan District will adopt open, innovative, and pragmatic approaches to amplify the innovation density and output in the Yangtze River Delta.
