On August 1, The VERS, an immersive expedition center developed by The Metaverse Project, unveiled its latest immersive expedition experience, "The Last Stronghold – Carcassonne 1304," inviting visitors to embark on a medieval adventure and experience the power of justice, faith, and courage.
The new experience is co-produced by France's Excurio and the Centre des monuments nationaux, created by the original team behind the Horizon of Khufu show. This marks The Metaverse Project's first introduction of the experience to Asia, premiering in China.
During the 45-minute immersive exploration, visitors will don VR headsets and travel back to 1304 within the towering walls of Carcassonne, following young noble Simon to relive the golden age of this UNESCO World Heritage site and enter a medieval world where authentic history seamlessly blends with original storytelling.
Throughout the experience, visitors can join the patrols to stand guard on the ramparts in the night, feel the bustling energy of everyday life in the marketplace and bite into a crisp, sweet apple, admire the painted dome and rose windows symbolizing faith and royal power in the Basilica of Saints Nazarius and Celsus, and even take up a shield to bravely defend their home and rewrite their destiny.
The VERS is located on LG2 of HKRI Taikoo Hui in Shanghai, spanning over 1,000 square meters indoors with a 750-square-meter ultra-large VR experience zone that can accommodate 70 visitors simultaneously. It operates on a model characterized by managing multiple projects concurrently and currently features four immersive experiences: "Life Chronicles," "Eternal Notre-Dame," "Paris 1874: Tonight with the Impressionists," and "The Last Stronghold – Carcassonne 1304," allowing visitors to choose freely based on their preferences.
The phenomenal project "Horizon of Khufu" is expected to return in late August.
