On August 8, Zhong Xiaoyong, Secretary of the CPC Jing’an District Committee, inspected the Pengyuepu, Zoumatang, and Dongjiaojing rivers with his team. Deputy District Mayor Yang Yi was in attendance.
During the inspection, Zhong reviewed water conservancy facilities and the water ecology along the rivers and listened to reports on their operation and long-term management.
Zhong stressed that a healthy aquatic ecosystem is vital for high-quality urban development, and river management is both a livelihood initiative and a public priority.
The river chief system must be strictly implemented, with enhanced daily river patrols and supervision. Efforts should focus on routine river maintenance, comprehensive management of waterfront environments, and continuous improvement of water quality, ultimately making “clear waters, green banks, and scenic beauty” a hallmark of the city.
A comprehensive upgrade of waterfront functions must be implemented, ensuring flood control safety while enhancing such infrastructure as waterfront recreational platforms and walkways. Continuous efforts shall advance waterfront connectivity and enrich aquatic amenities, thus delivering high-quality public waterfront spaces for citizens to enjoy.
A robust flood-season safety framework must be established. With the ongoing flood season, relevant departments must strengthen accountability, intensify river inspections, identify and address potential hazards, and ensure efficient emergency response systems to safeguard lives and property.
