On September 6, the Shanghai International Tea Culture Tourism Festival Themed Exhibition took place at Old Shanghai Teahouse. The event invited citizens and tourists to explore tea culture through themes of inheritance, integration, and connection.
Guided by a “timeline”, the exhibition illustrated the evolution of Jing’an District’s tea culture over the past 30 years. It showed its journey from a community-based small exhibition to an internationally recognized tea brand as well as its transition from local roots to global appreciation.
In the faded old photos, the scenes of tea tables at the first Shanghai International Tea Culture Festival in 1994 are clearly visible. Glass display cabinets showcase tea cans exported and notes left by tea enthusiasts from various countries during the Expo 2010 in Jing’an District. They serve as gentle reminders of Jing’an’s dialogue with the world.
In Jing’an District, tea culture embodies the warmth of urban life and enriches Shanghai’s cultural backdrop, nurturing the daily lives of residents in Jing’an.
“Tea Gathering in Jing’an” bridges ancient traditions with modern influences and connects China and the world. Here, you can enjoy a cup of Jing’an tea, hear its 30-year story, and witness its influence on a broader landscape. Join us; we await your presence with tea.
