Recently, the 2025 Jing'an Community eSports Carnival Finals concluded at the professional arena of Shanghai Esports Masters under the theme "Together We Play, Together We Win". This event was organized by Shanghai Jing'an District College (Shanghai Jing'an Community College and Shanghai Open University Jing'an Campus) and co-organized by Oriental Starlight School.
Shanghai Jing'an District College noted that esports fosters teamwork through digital interactions, cultivates strategic thinking and resilience, and serves as a bond that bridges generations and communities. This event exemplified the "lifelong education" concept, transforming esports from virtual competitions into a part of community life. It served as a platform that unlocks youth potential, fosters neighborhood bonds, and builds community ties.
A representative from the Shanghai E-Sports Association stated that hosting this community esports carnival at the professional arena of Shanghai Esports Masters not only brings professional resources to grassroots levels but also empowers future esports development. The representative hoped that players would demonstrate their skills through precise gameplay mechanics, show team spirit with seamless coordination, uphold the ethos of healthy esports, grow through competition, and advance to greater professional stages in the future.
This event was meticulously organized. With registration opened on November 13, it attracted numerous active esports enthusiasts. Fourteen teams battled it out in the online qualifiers from November 21 to December 3, with a fierce best-of-one (BO1) single-elimination format determining the finalists. Ultimately, two teams advanced to the finals, while the "Shanghai Joy Gaming Team" secured third place in the online qualifiers. The finals stage brought together the two elite teams advancing from the online qualifiers and one specially invited team, competing in an offline showdown under a best-of-three (BO3) double-elimination format.
At the finals, the "Pleasant Goat Team" and "Bzz Fan Team" took the stage first, vying for top honors. On the stage, the players were fully focused, and their fingers danced across the screen. Their precise skill execution, brilliant tactical maneuvers, and seamless teamwork drew waves of cheers and applause from the audience. After several rounds of intense and thrilling competitions, the "Pleasant Goat Team" emerged victorious as champion, while the "Bzz Fan Team" secured second place.
After a brief intermission, the event proceeded to the highly anticipated championship challenge. The newly crowned champion team faced off against the invited team, Oriental Starlight, in an elite esports showcase. The two teams engaged in intense back-and-forth action and traded brilliant strategies, with the "Pleasant Goat Team" ultimately defending their title. The two teams' outstanding performances showcased the strategic depth and competitive spirit of esports, driving the atmosphere to its peak.
The 2025 Jing'an Community eSports Carnival succeeded not only in creating a professional arena for grassroots gamers to showcase talent, but also in revitalizing neighborhood culture through popular engagement. It effectively bridged social divides and cultivated deeper communal bonds, demonstrating how digital competition can foster real-world connections.
Moving forward, Shanghai Jing'an District College will continue to collaborate with partners to advance "esports + education" integration and innovation, enhance digital talent development models, and extend professional esports resources to grassroots levels. These efforts will inject new vitality into the high-quality development of lifelong education in the district and empower the creation of a harmonious and vibrant community.
