The year 2026 marks the 80th anniversary of the International Council of Museums. This year's theme for International Museum Day on May 18 is Museums Uniting a Divided World.

To celebrate International Museum Day, venues under the Shanghai Jing'an District Cultural Relics Protection and Management Service Center will host a series of special events on May 18.

Event 1: Immersive Sound Theater Voices as Bridges, Echoes of 1921 at the Exhibition Hall of China Labor Combination Secretary Department Site

Introduction: It adopts a first-person worker narrative, integrating multi-scene settings, surround sound, and interactive mechanical installations to create a highly engaging historical journey. Guided by sound and installations, participants will "relive" the hardships of labor under oppression, the awakening of ideas, the unity of organization, and the heroic resistance. Through the perspective of ordinary workers, participants will understand the arduous course and great significance of the early labor movement.

Location: No. 1–11, Lane 893, North Chengdu Road, Jing'an District, Shanghai

Sessions: 9:30 / 10:30; 13:30 / 14:30

(Duration: 20 minutes per session)

Target Audience: All citizens

Participation: On-site registration and queuing; starts with a minimum of 5 participants, maximum 8 per session

Event 2: Commemorative Stamp Set Stamping at Cai Yuanpei's Former Residence Exhibition Gallery & Yuanli Pawnshop Site Museum

Location: Cai Yuanpei's Former Residence Exhibition Gallery (No. 16, Lane 303, Huashan Road)

Yuanli Pawnshop Site Museum (No. 203, Wuding Road)

Hours: 9:00–12:00, 13:00–20:30

Target Audience: All citizens

Details: Visitors may collect exclusive commemorative stamp sets during opening hours (2 sheets per person). The first 50 visitors who come and take photos will receive a small gift (while supplies last).

Marvelous Museum Night

All venues will extend opening hours to 20:30 for a marvelous museum night. Detailed schedules and addresses are as follows:
