All-Round Helpers! Two "Treasure Vans" on Jing'an's Streets Offer Surprising Benefits

May is a month dedicated to workers. Recently, a mobile health check-up van full of care and a mobile food van brimming with warmth have formed a "Mobile Duo" and pulled up at the "Ningju · Nuanxin Station" Love Relay Station for Outdoor Workers at the Grid Workstation of Jiangning Road Sub-district.

With strong support from the Shanghai Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the Jing'an Federation of Trade Unions has joined hands with the sub-district trade union and grid governance forces to deliver tangible services to the "city runners."

One Health Check-up: Health Certificates "Delivered to Your Doorstep"

"I used to have to take time off work and queue for hours at the hospital to get a health certificate, which cost me delivery orders. Now I can do it right outside the station for free!" said one flexible employee who took part in the check-up.

This year, with policy support and resource allocation from the Shanghai Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the service scope of the mobile health check-up van has been greatly expanded. Last year, it was limited to four groups: couriers, food delivery riders, ride-hailing drivers, and truck drivers. This year, it covers more than 10 types of new employment and flexible employment groups, including food delivery workers, logistics couriers, truck drivers, ride-hailing drivers, housekeeping workers, livestreamers/e-commerce workers, nursing attendants, property security guards, sanitation workers, street employees, construction temporary workers, and agricultural casual workers, with health certificate services available on site.

The event was held over two days: the first day focused on street employees, security guards, and sanitation workers; the second day prioritized couriers, food delivery riders, and other workers in new forms of employment.

Precise recruitment of participants was made possible by routine surveys and demand collection by community grids. Relying on the grid governance system, the Jiangning Road Sub-district Federation of Trade Unions (hereinafter referred to as the "Trade Unions") sent service information directly to those most in need.

At the check-up site, medical staff provided thorough examinations, including blood tests, electrocardiograms, and B-ultrasounds. Every participant received a warm care kit with waist and knee support products.

One Food Van: A Midday "Energy Supply Station"

At noon, after the free health check-up, workers found a mobile food van outside the station door.

As an innovative measure to enhance warm services by the Trade Unions, the mobile food van precisely meets the practical needs of workers in new forms of employment, distributing free "Nuanxin Meals" consisting of bread and milk on site. The scene was orderly, with couriers, food delivery riders, and sanitation workers stopping by one after another.

"Having a warm meal right after the check-up makes me feel secure."

Praise from the workers is the best reward for this convenient service. As the weather warms up, the Trade Unions provides this grab-and-go, nutritious mobile service to offer workers reassuring food supplies. Each meal carries its care for frontline workers and embodies the warm vision of the "Mobile Duo" program: health and food security for all.

Legal Service: Legal Advice "On the Go", Zero-Distance Consultation

On the first day of the event, a lecture on the Civil Code was held at the station. Lawyers explained practical issues such as loan disputes and rights protection in plain language.

On the second day, the station hosted a one-on-one legal consultation session, where lawyers provided targeted answers to individual questions. A public welfare promotional video for the National Confidentiality Publicity and Education Month was also screened, reminding everyone to protect personal information security in the digital age.

Notably, the event also opened on-site registration for summer parent-child activities: courtroom experiences with judicial robes, city views from the top of Shanghai Tower, and self-protection workshops with celebrity lawyers—rare career experiences and city explorations for working parents and their children.

A Mini Wish: Your Little Expectation

To further boost the sense of happiness and belonging of workers in new forms of employment, the Trade Unions set up a "Mini Wish" collection point at the event. Through an online-offline interactive model, it precisely addresses the urgent needs and difficulties of workers.

"I want to send some Shanghai specialties to my parents."

"I hope to buy new school supplies for my child."

...

Every wish collected reflects the simple and genuine life expectations of frontline workers. At the station, workers can submit wishes by scanning a QR code for the online system or filling out a paper wish card on site.

Staff will follow up to ensure every small wish is seen and fulfilled. This is not only an innovative service model but also a vivid practice of the Trade Unions, acting as the "mother's family," deeply integrating into workers' lives and conveying warmth.

A Brochure: Unlock the "Nuanxin Life Circle"

A well-designed "Nuanxin Scenarios" brochure stood out at the event. Jointly produced by the Jing'an Federation of Trade Unions and the Social Work Department of the CPC Jing'an District Committee, it features 10 tailored "Nuanxin Scenarios" for new employment groups: Nuanxin Medical Care, Nuanxin Affordable Meals, Nuanxin Housing, Nuanxin Convenient Travel, and more. The brochure lists green channels for medical treatment, affordable and convenient meals, and guidelines for applying for indemnificatory rental housing.

This "Mobile Duo" visit to the station is a typical example of collaboration among municipal, district, and sub-district trade unions and trade union services empowering grid governance. The Jing'an Federation of Trade Unions has actively brought municipal resources to the community, working with sub-district and grid forces to implement services accurately, bridging the "last mile" of serving workers. This initiative delivers not only health care and meals but also the urban warmth of Jing'an and an invitation to build a shared home.
