Shanghai Jing’an Queens Half Marathon has ushered in its 6th session this year. Over six years of efforts, it has been entitled “silver medal event” and “‘the most beautiful track’ characteristic event” by the Chinese Athletics Association. It is also the highest-level and largest-scale road running event dedicated to women in Shanghai, and has become another eye-catching sports card of Jing’an District.
This event consists of a women’s individual half marathon race, a half marathon race accompanied by male partners, and a 5.2-kilometer race, with approximately 4,800 contestants. Participants who rank in the top 20 for the women’s half marathon and the top 5 in the half marathon with male companions will be awarded bonuses, including a prize of RMB 15,000 for the individual female champion.
To ensure the competition runs smoothly, over 600 volunteers and 300 security personnel will be arranged to provide careful services such as guiding support points, maintaining order, and observing safety. Along the course, there will be eight locations for drinking water, over 10 medical stations, 10 ambulances, 20 AEDs, and a professional track rescue team to provide comprehensive services and support for the runners.
This event is a proactive measure to support the integrated development strategies of the Yangtze River Delta, Innovation & Creative Cluster Area on Both Sides of the Middle Ring Road of Jing’an District, and the overall planning of the Daning Functional Area to establish a cultural and creative technology industrial park in the new era. The organizers are actively promoting consumption by providing RMB 150 cash coupons to contestants finishing the race and will also hold sports-related consumption promotion events in the Daning Functional Area during the event period. Additionally, every runner who completes the race will receive a digital health card valued at RMB 1,800 per year, granting them one year of free access to two staff gyms in the Daning Functional Area.
The event collaborated in a friendly manner with related events in the Yangtze River Delta city cluster to establish a road race series event alliance in the region, using sports exchange as a crucial bridge of people-to-people and cultural exchanges in the region. Female runners who complete the half marathon within one hour and 50 minutes, and male runners who complete it within one hour and 40 minutes, will be eligible to participate in the Queen’s Run series held in the Yangtze River Delta region. They can attend any one of the events as they wish.
