On November 23, the Opening Ceremony of the 4th Shanghai Jing’an International Design Festival (SHJAIDF) 2022 and Jing'an District Cultural and Creative Investment Promotion Conference took place at 800 Show in Jing'an District. This event was attended by Qiang Ying, full-time deputy director of the Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industry Promotion Leading Group Office, Wang Yiqun, deputy secretary of the CPC Jing'an District Committee, and Mo Liangjin, member of the Standing Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jing'an District Committee, as well as representatives of relevant departments and design enterprises. At the opening ceremony, Qiang Ying and Wang Yiqun delivered speeches, and signed four key cultural and creative industry projects.
This year's SHJAIDF, themed Symbiosis: Meta-creation, focused on global exemplary designs and integrated the core contents of sustainable design and digital cultural creativity. Over five days, excellent cultural works and design achievements were displayed and released, while professionals from design enterprises, industry associations, colleges, and universities explored how to cohere and collaborate with each other and create a meta-ecosystem for sustainable design in the “Meta Era” through forums, roundtable discussions, and other forms. SHJAIDF provided an international exchange platform for showcasing cultural and creative industry achievements and fostering the coexistence and co-creation of cultural and creative talent.
The event features a series of peak forums that will discuss forward-looking topics in the design industry. Many industry leaders will share their thoughts and suggestions on sustainable design. The 9th Shanghai Landscape Forum, which is one of the most influential events in the international landscape design industry, will be unveiled as an important part of the design festival. The forum will feature 15 senior designers from various international landscape companies as representatives, discussing topics ranging from the new use of public space after the pandemic to the multiple strategies for coping with today's pandemic, climate, and other environments. They will showcase the latest thinking and trends in the industry. Additionally, B Corps China and the College of Design and Innovation of Tongji University will host a special session on Sustainable Fashion. The session will focus on four topics: sustainable materials, sustainable design, sustainable cross-border development, and sustainable future. This will help lead brands toward a new driving force for future development.
In combination with the trending topic of the metaverse, the Tree-Graph Blockchain Research Institute, with its cutting-edge team of scientists and investment institutions, will host a venture capital conference focused on the metaverse venture capital hotspots. By integrating creativity, design, and technology, it aims to provide faster and better investment opportunities for metaverse start-ups. More than 30 entrepreneurial project teams and over 60 investment institutions have already signed up for the Conflux - Draper Dragon Meta Venture Capital Conference, which is part of this design festival. Additionally, SAND, the cultural and creative enterprise service platform, will be inaugurated and launch the cultural and creative roadshow at this design festival.
Youth creativity and the display of achievements from renowned design schools are also among the highlights of this event. The world's top art design platform, Parsons Design Innovation Center, and China's local sustainable design innovation incubation platform, XNode, will discuss the training of creative design talent and the incubation of young designers. The School of Textiles and Fashion of Shanghai University of Engineering Science will hold a conference showcasing works from the 2022 graduation design.
Over the past decade, in terms of the cultural and creative industries, Jing’an District has taken the initiative to undertake the mission and responsibility of building Shanghai into a “City of Design and Fashion” and an “International Cultural Metropolis” under the leadership of the CPC Jing’an District Committee and Jing’an District People’s Government. The district has firmly grasped the requirements of positioning itself as the new benchmark in the central city area and the new bright spot in the development of Shanghai. It has also made efforts to promote the development of cultural and creative industries, continuously optimizing the business environment, improving industrial strength, enhancing brand effect, and gradually improving the service system. These efforts aim to help Shanghai establish itself as a cultural and creative industry hub with international influence. The SHJAIDF has provided a platform for industrial exchange and interaction, promoting development and helping regional cultural and creative industries build consensus and gather strength. It can stimulate new vitality of industrial development and form new advantages of cross-border integration. The SHJAIDF aims to bring the world's outstanding designers to Shanghai and outstanding enterprises to Jing’an District.
