Hello everyone. Welcome to today’s online interview. Our guest for today is Xin Yi, Secretary of the Party Working Committee in Pengpu Town. Hi, Mr. Xin!
Xin Yi:
Hi, host. Hello, everyone.
Host:
Pengpu Town is a town with a long history and great cultural significance. It has been honored with the title of “Hometown of National Folk Culture and Art” for six consecutive times. As the saying goes, “Don’t forget the water-well diggers when you drink water from here.” To preserve the historical roots and cultural essence of the town, the CPC Pengpu Town Committee decided to establish the Pengpu Town History Museum on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. On May 19 of this year, the Pengpu Town History Museum officially opened. Could you please introduce it to us?
Xin Yi:
Certainly. The Pengpu Town History Museum serves as a condensed representation of the town’s history. The museum plays three main roles: enlightening through history, placing greater emphasis on inheriting and learning from history, as well as summarizing experiences for development; enhancing belief through history, by serving as a cultural landmark for citizens to visit, an essential training ground for leaders, and a primary platform for nurturing and practicing core socialist values; and inspiring action through history, by deeply understanding Pengpu Town’s development direction in the new era and harnessing the spiritual strength to embark on a new journey and contribute to the new era based on practical work considerations.
Host:
Pengpu Town is not only a town of cultural significance but also a livable new town. The Pengpu Town Life Service Center, also known as the Town Station, coexists and integrates with the Pengpu Town History Museum.
Xin Yi:
The Town Station caters to the needs of residents and provides services such as cultural and historical heritage exhibitions and education, elderly care and childcare, community meal assistance, convenience services, cultural, sports and recreational activities, reading and learning, health and wellness, rental experiences of aids for the elderly and disabled, Red Cross first aid training, and self-service handling of community affairs.
Xin Yi:
The first floor houses the town community canteen, which is highly popular among the elderly, office workers, and students in the surrounding communities. The second floor offers a diverse range of life service spaces, including areas for sports and fitness, reading and learning, skill sharing, and convenience services. Additionally, there is a comprehensive self-service terminal for “One-network-wide Handling”, making it convenient for residents to handle various self-service businesses. Residents can enjoy comprehensive and high-quality public services here.
Host:
What are the prospects in this regard?
Xin Yi:
In the next step, Pengpu Town will align with the requirements of the “14th Five-Year Plan for Basic Public Services in Shanghai”. Based on the service scope and population, we will optimize the layout of service stations for healthcare, elderly care, cultural, sports, and government affairs, bringing these services closer to people’s doorsteps. Additionally, through resource integration, functional combination, and advantage accumulation, we will channel more resources into the community, extending public services to the residents of the town and further improving service efficiency. We will promote the collaborative construction and sharing of Party-mass service centers, community cultural activity centers, the Town Station, the San Yang Base for Integration between the Disabled and Health People[ZL1], as well as elderly care service centers. So these public service facilities can be made easily accessible and convenient, providing residents with a greater sense of satisfaction.
Host:
Economic indicators are one of the most important measures of the development level of a town. Located in the North Jing’an Middle Ring Road Golden Corridor, Pengpu Town is an important development node in the “Innovation & Creative Cluster Area on Both Sides of Middle Ring Road” of the “One Axis and Three Belts” development strategy of Jing’an District. Could you please introduce it to us?
Xin Yi:
In recent years, Pengpu Town has been implementing the “Strong Town with a Strong Economy” development strategy, with a solid industrial foundation and rapid economic growth. Currently, there are approximately 8,490 various types of tax-paying enterprises in the town, including 962 key enterprises, contributing to a total annual tax revenue of around RMB 9 billion. Buildings and industrial parks have become a vital core for local economic development. Within the jurisdiction of this town, there are core areas of two major functional zones, Shibei and Daning, as well as 28 buildings and parks. Among them, Pengpu Town possesses over 700,000 square meters of self-owned carriers, including three 100-million-yuan buildings and parks such as Shanghai Multimedia Valley, Wanrong DragonSoft Park, and Nuocheng 1895. Pengpu Town has responded to the requirements of urban economic transformation, integrated and utilized its advantageous resources, and made breakthroughs in industries such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and big data. As a result, Pengpu Town has become a key area where new business formats gather and distinctive industries flourish, particularly in the field of data intelligence industry.
Host:
I understand that Pengpu Town is known as a charming waterfront town, with many distinctive waterfront public spaces in its jurisdiction.
Xin Yi:
Water brings vitality to the city, and the city becomes beautiful because of its water. Pengpu Town is crisscrossed with a dense network of waterways and green veins, including six star-rated riverways with a 12-kilometer water system. It has created an urban three-dimensional green space by combining “riverways” with “green corridors”. Within the town, there is Pengyuepu River, a 5.21-kilometer-long linear corridor designed with the concept of “connection, flow, and sharing”, integrating waterfront spaces with urban life. Through continuous management and improvement, the water here becomes clear, the banks green, and the scenery beautiful. The river has gradually become a favorite place for people to stroll and relax. With the strong leadership of the CPC Jing’an District Committee and Jing’an District People’s Government, Pengpu Town will make new achievements in building a “strong town with a strong economy”, a “town of cultural significance”, a “livable new town”, an “intelligent governance town”, and a “town renowned for Party building”. We will write a new chapter in the journey of building an “excellent urban area and a charming town”.
